5/17/2025 12:00:00 PM

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State University Athletics is proud to announce the construction of the new Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex, a transformative facility that will serve as a hub for health, wellness and education for both the campus and community. The stunning facility will also be the new home for Pioneer football, women's soccer and track & field, starting in 2026.

Made possible through the extraordinary generosity of the Morris family and other dedicated donors, the new complex will significantly enhance the atmosphere at Pioneer sporting events while also becoming the home of GSU's College of Health Sciences and academic programs.

This facility represents Glenville State University's ongoing commitment to community engagement and rural revitalization. "The Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex is a bold step forward in our mission to strengthen the well-being of our campus and rural West Virginia," said Dr. Mark A. Manchin, President of Glenville State University. "As someone deeply committed to the values my family has long championed, especially in the realm of rural healthcare, I am proud to see Glenville State University lead the way in creating meaningful change. The Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex will serve as a beacon of wellness, education, and hope for this region."

The Morris Family Health and Fitness Complex will feature a state-of-the-art fitness center open to the public, encouraging healthy living for the residents of Glenville and surrounding areas and innovative academic spaces for health science instruction, offering GSU students valuable resources and immersive, hands-on learning opportunities.

The complex, which is being built over the recently torn down Morris Stadium, will feature brand-new bleacher seating, with folding seats available at the 50-yard line. Vantage members will enjoy an updated experience, with premium seating accessible at the 50-yard line inside the press box.

New turf and a new track will be laid down to furthermore enhance the utilization of the complex for Pioneer athletics, giving GSU student athletes the most up-to-date surfaces. Along with the new turf and track, a brand-new scoreboard with a videoboard will be on the opposite endzone of the complex. Updated lighting will also be added, giving nighttime practices and games a new feeling.

Construction is currently underway with the facility projected to open Summer of 2026.
