Baseball Puts Five on All-MEC Second Team

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State Baseball put five Pioneers on the All-MEC Second Team, the league announced. Carlos De Jesus, Lance Minson, Zach Laurie, Grant Landis and Cole Grady were all recognized as second teamers.

Carlos De Jesus
De Jesus, a junior out of Brandon, Fla., batted .261 with a .814 OPS, six home runs, 29 RBIs, team-leading 13 doubles, 40 hits and 20 walks. The sunshine state native started the year out slow, but bounced back with multiple seven-game hit streaks as well as a 4-for-4 game three performance at Concord this past weekend. De Jesus also had eight games of at least two RBIs.

Lance Minson
Minson, who hails from Lake City, Fla., hit .328 with a .948 OPS, six home runs, 27 RBIs, 10 doubles, 40 hits, 12 stolen bases and eight walks in 39 games played. The senior missed some time due to injury, however, he had a 10-game hitting streak in the middle of the season and produced 12 multi-hit games. His season was highlighted by a 3-for-3 performance against Charleston and a 4-for-4 outing against West Virginia Wesleyan.

Zach Laurie
Laurie, a former St. John's transfer, had his breakout season in a Pioneer uniform, hitting .321 with a 1.070 OPS, 10 home runs, team-leading 38 RBIs, 12 doubles, 43 hits, 25 walks and seven stolen bases. The Petersborough, Ontario, Canada native had 15 games of two or more hits with a 3-for-3, one home run, one double and four RBI performance against Salem. Laurie also had three games of four or more RBIs with his highest RBI total reaching five against Bluefield State.

Grant Landis
Landis, a junior college product out of Rio, W.Va., was an All-MEC First Team selected in 2024 as a reliever. The Hampshire HS product led the Pioneers with a 3.29 ERA in 17 appearances (nine starts), going (5-3) with two complete games, one shutout, one save and 48 strikeouts in 54.2 innings pitched. Landis went four or more innings in eight of his nine starts, finishing the season out with two complete games in his final three outings. He also posted five or more strikeouts in all of his last four starts, including a season-high seven against WVWC.

Cole Grady
Grady, a sophomore out of York, Pa., went (4-4) with a 3.37 ERA in 13 appearances (12 starts). Grady struck out 51 batters in 58.2 innings pitched while producing a 1.31 WHIP. Out of his 12 starts, he went four or more innings in 11 of those, pitching six innings against Chestnut Hill and nearly tossing a complete game against Clarion with 6.2 innings. Grady had nine strikeouts against Lock Haven and fanned six in two other starts.
