THE OPPONENTS
FROSTBURG STATE (10–8, 6–5 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Frostburg State arrives in Glenville hovering right in the middle of the MEC standings, carrying a (10–8) overall record and a (6–5) conference mark. The Bobcats have proven capable of scoring in bunches, averaging nearly 93 points per game, while playing in a number of high-tempo, high-scoring contests throughout the season. Frostburg has picked up key league wins both at home and on the road, including victories over Charleston and West Virginia State while remaining competitive against top-tier opponents.
Quick Look at The Bobcats
Frostburg State thrives on offensive efficiency and balance. The Bobcats shoot nearly 49 percent from the field and just under 39 percent from three-point range, making them one of the more efficient shooting teams in the league. Trey Simmons headlines the attack, averaging over 24 points per game while shooting efficiently from both the floor and the free-throw line. DJ Daniel adds a strong inside-out presence, scoring, rebounding, and rim protection, while Mitch Finefrock stretches defenses with consistent perimeter shooting.
FAIRMONT STATE (15–3, 9–2 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Nationally-ranked Fairmont State enters the week as one of the MEC's top contenders, boasting a (15–3) overall record and a (9–2) mark in conference play while riding a six-game winning streak. The Fighting Falcons have been dominant on both ends of the floor, owning one of the league's largest scoring margins and establishing Joe Retton Arena as one of the toughest road environments in the conference. Fairmont has already collected wins over ranked opponents and currently sits firmly in the upper tier of the MEC standings as it pushes toward postseason positioning.
Quick Look at The Fighting Falcons
Fairmont State combines elite efficiency with physicality and depth. The Falcons average nearly 90 points per game while holding opponents to just over 73, pairing strong perimeter shooting with aggressive rebounding and transition offense. They are among the conference leaders in assists, steals, and points off turnovers, consistently turning defense into offense.
Fairmont's ability to pressure the ball, dominate the glass, and create high-percentage looks makes them a difficult matchup, particularly at home. FSU tabs one of, if not the most, talented roster head coach Tim Koenig as featured in his seven seasons at the helm.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE (11–7, 6–5 MEC)
2025–26 Season
Glenville State enters the week playing confident, connected basketball, climbing back to (11–7) overall and (6–5) in conference play. The Pioneers are coming off back-to-back road wins, including a statement offensive performance at Concord, and have shown growth on both ends of the floor as league play intensifies.
Offensively, Glenville averages over 88 points per game while shooting 47 percent from the field and 37 percent from three-point range. The Pioneers have also been effective on the glass, holding a positive rebounding margin, and continue to generate quality looks through ball movement and spacing.
Quick Look at The Pioneers
Glenville State's success is built on balance and versatility. Elijah Redfern leads the scoring attack, averaging 18.2 points per game and coming off consecutive 30-point performances, emerging as one of the league's hottest offensive threats. Jalen Knott anchors the offense as the primary ball-handler, contributing 17.4 points per game while serving as a steady facilitator and an above-average rebounder from the guard position.
Inside, Prince Mosengo provides a consistent interior presence, shooting over 63 percent from the field while leading the team in rebounding. Don Colon-Lewis adds physicality and versatility, contributing scoring, rebounding, and defensive activity, while Ammar Maxwell and Rye Gadd supply key production off the bench.
When Glenville controls the glass, moves the ball, and plays with pace, the Pioneers are capable of competing with anyone in the MEC — setting the stage for a critical week with conference positioning at stake.
