Lady Pioneers Use 46-Point Second Quarter to Surpass Century Mark and Secure Win Against PPU

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Lady Pioneer Women's Basketball team used a 46-point second quarter to score triple digits in their 110-98 win against Point Park on Saturday (Jan. 3) inside the Waco Center. GSU has now won six games in a row and sits at (9-2, 4-1 MEC).

1st Half
Glenville State started off the game with an eight-zero run with scores from Stevi Yancy, Nwando Okigbo and Nylah Davis before Wonder Nkoyock drained a three to end the first quarter. In the second, GSU scored an astounding 46 points with scores from Ashlyn Riley, Nwando Okigbo, Keanti Thompson, Carine Pinkney, and a three from Jayda Allie made the score 70-36 at the half.

2nd Half
The Lady Pioneers were outscored in the third, but still held a 24-point lead at the end of three after Khalia Bryant made an and-one with five seconds remaining in quarter number three. In the fourth, PPU cut the lead to 13 with over two minutes remaining, but free throws from Okigbo iced the game, as the Glenville State Lady Pioneers would win, 110-98.

Point Park
Camilie Fultz had 25 points to lead the team in scoring and also had eight rebounds while Sophia Moore had 21 connecting on seven threes and Alexis Giles had 15. Elizabeth Boyd pulled down nine rebounds in the defeat.

Glenville State
GSU had seven double-figure scorers, as Nwando Okigbo had 16 points and eight rebounds, Ashlyn Riley had 15, Wonder Nkoyock and Keanti Thompson had 14, while Carine Pinkney and Khalia Bryant had 13 each, and Stevi Yancy scored 11.

Up Next For The Pioneers
The Lady Pioneers will be on the road for a conference matchup on Wednesday (Jan. 7) to face the Senators of Davis & Elkins. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
