Preview: Women's Basketball Rides Six-Game Winning Streak into Matchups with D&E and WVWC

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Lady Pioneer Women's Basketball is prepared to take their six-game winning streak into first full week of games in 2026 as GSU will be on the road on Wednesday (Jan. 7) at Davis & Elkins for a 5:30 p.m. start and will host West Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday (Jan. 10) inside the Waco Center at 2 p.m.

DAVIS & ELKINS
2025-26 Season
The Senators come into the week with a (1-12 ,0-5 MEC record, previously losing to West Liberty by just four on Saturday (Jan. 3)

Davis & Elkins is led by Jahniya Marion as she averages 14.9 points per game, and Kylie Morris leads the team in rebounding with 4.5 boards per game and scores 8.2 points. Kaitlyn Parker chips in 7.7 points per game and Bryiana Sapp is adding a little under seven points per game at 6.8 PPG.

WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN
2025-26 Season
The Bobcats are currently (6-2) overall and (4-1) in Mountain East play, as they come into the new week on a four-game winning streak.

West Virginia Wesleyan is led by Kilah Dandridge, who ranks third in the Mountain East Conference with 17.4 points per game. Last week's MEC Co-Player of the Week, Emma Witt, is right behind her in the league at 17.0 PPG while grabbing eight rebounds to lead the team. Ana Young averages 11.4 points while leading the squad in three-point shooting at 48% (15-for-31).

2025-26 Season
Winners of their last six and notching a (9-2) overall and (4-1) record in league play, the Lady Pioneers are currently tied for first in the MEC and are one of the hottest teams in the league.

GSU is led by senior transfer guard Carine Pinkney, who is scoring 13 points per game and shooting 48% from the floor. 2024-25 MEC Freshman of the Year Nwando Okigbo is averaging just under a double-double with 12 points and 9.2 rebounds per game. Shinnston native Ashlyn Riley is averaging 9.4 points while knocking down a team-best 18 threes, and senior guard Stevi Yancy is scoring 9.3 points per game and leads the team in assists with 26 on the season.
