GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Baseball team took three of four against Lock Haven at the Sue Morris Sports Complex over the weekend, capturing the first two games of the series on Friday (Feb. 20), 9-4, and 4-3. The Bald Eagles took game three of the four-game set on Saturday (Feb. 21), but it would be the Pioneers winning the series with a 9-0 game four victory.
Game One – GSU 9 | Lock Haven 4
Greyson McNeill added onto his hot start to the 2026 season with an RBI double to open the scoring in the first. The following innings, Lock Haven used a HBP and an error to take the lead. Glenville State put a four spot on the scoreboard in the 4
th inning before putting up another three runs in the fifth inning to gain a seven-run lead. LHU cut into the GSU lead, but it would be too late as GSU won, 9-4.
Game Two – GSU 4 | Lock Haven 3
In another thrilling ballgame inside Kenny Greenlief Field, the Bald Eagles started off early with a sac fly in the top of the first. Lock Haven grew the lead in the top of the 3
rd with an RBI single, however,
Adam Bright's two-RBI single knotted it all up at two going into the fourth. A homer down the line by Negola put the lead back into Lock Haven's hands, but Bright would once again tie the game in the 5
th. An opposite field home run from
Luke Sweigart in the 6
th set up
Anthony Ruiz to capture his first collegiate win.
Game Three – GSU 4 | Lock Haven 9
The script flipped on the Pioneers in game three of the series, as GSU held an early 4-1 lead but an eight run fourth inning pushed the Bald Eagles out front to salvage the series. Glenville State mounted base runners in the final innings of the game, but the young pitching staff that LHU threw were able to shut things down in the Pioneers first defeat of the weekend.
Game Four – GSU 9 | Lock Haven 0
Glenville State produced 12 hits and plated nine runs en route to their sixth win of the new campaign. It all started when
Luke Sweigart and
Colby Guy both notched RBI singles in the 3
rd. From there,
Adam Bright doubled to make it 3-0 and a wild error by the shortstop pushed GSU's advantage out to five. An RBI single from
Greyson McNeill made it 6-0 before another wild error by the Bald Eagle defense allowed the Pioneers to make it 8-0 and eventually the final score, 9-0, on Sweigart's sixth-inning RBI single.
