Preview: Pioneer Baseball Set For Three Games in Atlantic Region Crossover

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Baseball will be in northern West Virginia this weekend, competing in the Atlantic Region Crossover in Nutter Fort and Morgantown, The Pioneers will face off with PSAC opponents Shepherd (Friday) and Indiana Pa. (Saturday) before closing out the weekend with Walsh (Sunday).

THE OPPONENTS
SHEPHERD
The Rams come in (6-3), opening the season with a sweep of Chowan, winning two of three against Holy Family and losing two of three versus Concord. Shepherd has scored 10 or more runs in five of their opening nine contests.
 
Ryan Fluharty leads the offense with a .400 average, one home run, 14 RBIs and three doubles. In limited at bats, Alex Rose has produced pop with two home runs and a .467 batting average. On the mound, Riley Morgan has been the most impressive hurler for SU, showcasing a 2.35 ERA and nine strikeouts in 7.2 innings of work.
 
INDIANA (PA.)
The Hawks enter the weekend (1-2) on the young season, splitting a doubleheader with West Chester and falling to Jefferson. IUP will take on Salem on Friday (Feb. 27) before battling the Pioneers at WVU's Kendrick Family Ballpark.
 
Ricardo Aponte and Devon Boyles have added some power to the lineup early, as both have blasted home runs just three games in. Seven Hawks have accounted for the 12 RBIs IUP has scored, with Aponte leading the way with three. Jhamil Rivera has been the most reliable out of the pen for Indiana (Pa.), giving up no runs in 3.1 IP. Cameron Copple struck out five and gave up 4 runs in 5.1 innings of work.
 
WALSH
The Cavaliers are (3-1) after opening the 2026 season with a series win over MEC opponent Fairmont State. Walsh took the first three games before dropping the fourth and final game.
 
Brodey Acres has started the new year with an impressive one home run, seven RBIs, three doubles and a .563 AVG to lead the Cavaliers. Brady Rollyson has also notched a home run while Ryan Bruni is tied for the team lead in RBIs with seven. Three Cavalier pitchers have a 1.75 ERA or lower and four or more innings pitched, including Nick Petro, who went five innings and allowed just one run with three strikeouts.
 
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers come in (6-2) following back-to-back series wins over Mansfield and Lock Haven, as the Pioneers took three of four against both teams.
 
Six Pioneer batters have hit a home run, with junior Adam Bright leading the charge near the top of the lineup with a .370 AVG, 1.062 OPS, one home run, 10 RBIs and three doubles. Redshirt freshman Greyson McNeill has been solid for 13th-year head coach Jimmy Mullins, producing a .308 AVG, one home run and seven RBIs with a double. Wheeling transfer Zach Dellerman has a limited nine at bats, but he's slashed four hits, including two doubles, in that action.
 
Grant Landis has a (1-0) record in two starts, flashing a 0.78 ERA and six strikeouts in 9.0 IP thus far. William Chu has came out of the bullpen and made a start last weekend, securing a 1.27 ERA and 0.64 WHIP in 11.0 IP. Adrian Orozco earned his first win as a Pioneer last weekend and currently holds a 3.36 ERA with a team leading nine strikeouts.
