SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Glenville State Wrestling team had an historic finish to the 2025-26 season at this weekend's NCAA DII Championships in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Pioneers finished a program-best 7th as a team, tied the school record with four All-Americans and had the team's third-ever National Runner-Up.

ALL-AMERICANS
Nick Johnson became the third Pioneer in program history to be a National Runner-Up, finishing second at 197 pounds and earning his second All-American honor in a GSU uniform. The Parkersburg, W.Va. native coasted through his opening round match before winning via decision in the quarterfinals and by fall in the semifinals. Johnson matched up with the number one seed, Max Ramberg of Augustana, and fell by decision, 4-2.

Gabe Onorato also became a two-time All-American, finishing in fourth place at 149 pounds. Onorato majored his opening round opponent, but lost by decision in the quarterfinals. The former Drexel transfer then won three-straight matches by decision to wrestle his way into the 3rd place match. In a tightly contested matchup with Wisconsin-Parkside's Jalen Spuhler, Onorato was downed by decision, 6-3.

Zachary Parker, who entered the 133-pound bracket as the reigning Super Region III champion, fell in his opening round match to the No. 2 seed, Jeremiah Echevarria. Parker bullied his way through the consolation bracket, picking up three-consecutive pinfall victories to submerge himself into a consolation finals match. Parker fell by decision in his next contest, but was able to defeat the number one seed and MEC foe Tanner Halling in the 5th place match.

Ethan Hardy finished in seventh place at 141 pounds after opening the day with a loss in his first match but putting together two straight wins in the consolation bracket to stay alive. Hardy fell once again, but his two earlier wins were good enough to boost him into the 7th place match. The redshirt senior took care of business against Central Missouri's James Wright, 7-1, to close out his collegiate career with a top 8 finish.

OTHER PIONEER PERFORMANCES
Freshman standout Jimmie Bailes garnered the 13-seed in the 157-pound bracket, picking up a pinfall win in the consolation bracket after dropping his opening round matchup. Bailes lost a high-scoring affair with Central Missouri's Owen Cline in the following round, which ended the phenomenal first season for Bailes at Glenville State.

Leo Hess III wrestled in a prelim matchup, falling by decision, 9-3, to Trent Hoover of Pitt-Johnstown. The 165-pound grappler lost in his consolation match to Minnesota State's Kole Marko, putting an end to Hess' NCAA Championships run.
