BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State Wrestling star
Nick Johnson has been named the 2025-26 Mountain East Conference Wrestler of the Year, the league announced today.
Johnson, a redshirt junior out of Parkersburg, W.Va., was an astounding (30-2) this season as a 197-pounder for the Pioneers. He earned his second All-American nod with his national runner-up finish last month, and captured individual championships at the Midwest Classic, MEC Championships and NCAA DII Super Region III Championships.
Johnson becomes the first Pioneer to win MEC Wrestler of the Year and he ends West Liberty's five-year run of having a grappler earn the award.
