ATHENS, W.Va. – The Glenville State Softball team dropped a pair of conference contests at Concord on Wednesday (Mar. 25), 5-3 and 8-0, in Athens. The Pioneers fell to (17-9) overall and (4-2) in MEC play.
Game One – GSU 3 | Concord 5
Following two scoreless innings to start the day, Concord's Madison Hollis knocked out a two-run home run to give CU a 2-0 lead. An inning later, another home run, this time a three-run shot, would lift CU to a five-run advantage. The Pioneers fought back mightily in the seventh inning, scoring three runs and having the tying run at the plate but a groundout ended the first game of the doubleheader in favor of the Mountain Lions, 5-3.

Concord
Five Mountain Lions had a hit, led by Kendall Morgan's two knocks, Hannah Niten's three RBIs and Madison Hollis' two RBIs. Hollis also delivered in the circle, pitching a complete game with three runs (all earned) given up on seven hits and one walk.
Glenville State
AndiJo Howard went 2-for-3 while
Shelby McDaniels had a knock and two RBIs in the defeat.
Alexis Harward pinch hit, earning herself an RBI.
Kylie Burdick took the loss after 3.2 innings pitched, surrendering five runs (all earned) on three hits, two walks and striking out seven.
Game Two – GSU 0 | Concord 8 (5 Inn.)
Much like game one, it was quiet early on but the Mountain Lions were once again able to blow it open. Concord plated seven runs in the seventh, boasting themselves out to a 7-0 advantage. With the run rule in play, CU walked it off in the fifth to secure the 8-0 win.

Lacie Lewis led Concord with two hits and two RBIs while four other Mountain Lions produced an RBI each. Reghan Hints picked up her fifth win of the year, pitching all five innings and allowing just two hits and walking two.
Glenville State
Emily Nolan and
Lillian Burns had a hit each in the defeat, with
Maci Boggess taking the loss in the circle after 3.1 IP, six runs (two earned), three hits and one walk.
