GLENVILLE, W.Va. – With this weekend's four-game sweep of West Virginia Wesleyan, the Glenville State Baseball team clinched a berth into the Mountain East Conference Tournament for the second time in three seasons. 2026 also marks the first time the Pioneers have solidified their spot prior to the final weekend of the regular season.
Glenville State is on a nine-game winning streak and are (26-18) overall with their (15-11) mark in conference play. The Pioneers have used back-to-back sweeps and a split at West Virginia State two weekends ago to clinch their spot in the tournament, with the Yellow Jackets officially falling out of contention after losing a game to Davis & Elkins over the weekend.
The Pioneers are currently third in the MEC South Division and sit just a game behind Charleston and Concord, who are tied for first at (16-11). The Golden Eagles will take on WVSU this coming weekend while the Pioneers control their own destiny with a four-game set against Concord. GSU and CU will play two in Athens on Friday (May 1) before coming back to Glenville on Sunday (May 3) to finish the regular season.
