GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Softball team used three run-rule victories and a convincing 5-2 win on Sunday (Apr. 26) to sweep Point Park and Salem in the Pioneers final games at the Sue Morris Sports Complex in 2026. GSU moved to (35-13) overall and (20-6) in league play with the wins, moving within a game of Charleston for first place in the MEC South Division.
Sunday (Apr. 26)
Game One – GSU 5 | Point Park
Kylee Goodman put the first run on the board on senior day for the Pioneers, utilizing a fielder's choice to record the RBI. In the third inning, Point Park used a fielder's choice of their own to tie it up, however,
Delaney Warnick quickly broke the knot with a towering two-run home run in the bottom half of the inning.
Hannah Howe and
Emma McLean added RBI singles in the inning, extending the GSU lead to four. PPU plated a run in the fifth, but
Kylie Burdick would stay strong and pitch another complete game for GSU to record the 5-2 victory.
Game Two – GSU 11 | Point Park 0 (5 Inn.)
Maci Boggess enjoyed a short start in game two, striking out five and giving up just one hit in the run-rule win for the Pioneers. The runs poured on early, with GSU plating three in the first inning on RBIs from
Lillian Burns,
Emily Nolan and
Kylee Goodman. The Pioneers then had a pair of four-run innings in the second and third, including a three-run bomb from
Emily Nolan in the 2
nd and an inside the park home run from
Lillian Burns in the third. Boggess finished off PPU in the fourth and fifth innings, securing the 11-0, five inning win.
Monday (Apr. 27)
Game One – GSU 10 | Salem 2 (6 Inn.)
In a rescheduled Monday doubleheader, the Pioneers trailed in the first inning after Salem opened the day with a solo home run.
Alexis Harward tied it up with a sac fly in the second, and
Zailees Seda gave GSU the lead in the third with a two-run home run. Salem cut the deficit in half in the top of the fourth with an RBI double, but Seda blew the game wide open in the bottom half of the stanza with a grand slam.
Emma McLean made it 8-2 in the fifth before
Karlie Burdick had a pinch hit two-run double to walk it off in the 6
th inning, 10-2.
Game Two – GSU 8 | Salem 0 (6 Inn.)
Emma McLean started the scoring off with an RBI double in the 2
nd inning, and
Lillian Burns crossed home on a passed ball to increase the lead to two in the 3
rd. The Pioneers then added four runs in the fourth inning on RBIs from Burns,
Delaney Warnick and
Emily Nolan. Burns notched her third RBI of the game in the 5
th inning, and McLean had her second RBI of the contest to walk it off in the 6
th inning, 8-0.

The Pioneers will make the trip north to take on Davis & Elkins on Thursday (Apr. 30) in a doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
