Pioneer Baseball Drops Final Two Games of Concord Series

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The Glenville State Baseball team dropped their final two games of the 2026 regular season today (May 3), falling to Concord, 3-0 and 5-0, on senior day. The Pioneers will go into the MEC Tournament at (27-21, 16-14 MEC).

Game One – GSU 0 | Concord 3
It was slow day for both offenses, however, the Mountain Lions were able to muster together enough runs to top the Pioneers in the opening game. An RBI double by Dawson Gragg in the third inning broke the scoreless tie, and the Pioneers turned a double play but had to surrender a run in the 5th as Concord took a 2-0 lead. Another RBI double in the sixth by the Mountain Lions extended the advantage to three, with GSU struggling to get the bats rolling and being held to just two hits in the 3-0 defeat.

Game Two – GSU 0 | Concord 5
Much like game one, the second contest of the doubleheader did not see much offense. It wouldn't be until the fifth inning when a zero in the run column would be erased, as Concord used a sac fly to jump on top of the Pioneers, 1-0. A homer in the sixth inning pushed the CU advantage to two, and a three spot in the seventh inning shut the door on any Pioneer comeback. The Mountain Lions took the final game of the regular season and clinched their first MEC South Division title since 2017 in the 5-0 win over GSU.

Up Next For The Pioneers
The Pioneers will now shift their focus to postseason play at the MEC Tournament, starting on Wednesday (May 6) at GoMart Ballpark.
