SALEM, Va. – The Glenville State Softball team started day two of the Mountain East Conference Tournament with a loss to number-one seeded Fairmont State, 5-2, but bounced back with a thrilling comeback victory over Concord, 8-5, to evade elimination and make it to the Friday's semifinals. The Pioneers are now (41-14) on the year.
Game One – GSU 2 | Fairmont State 5
Fairmont State opened the game with three runs in the first inning, using an RBI double and sac fly to jump on the Pioneers early. The Falcons then notched a home run in the 3
rd to go up by four, however,
Delaney Warnick mashed a HR of her own to trim the deficit to two, 4-2. FSU added an insurance run in the bottom half of the sixth inning and Delaney Haller closed out the Pioneers in the final inning, 5-2, to force GSU to play an elimination game.
Game Two – GSU 8 | Concord 5
After Concord put a four spot on the board in their first swings,
Kylee Goodman got GSU on the board in the bottom of the 1
st to make it 4-1. The Mountain Lions added one to their lead in the top of the third, but Glenville State erupted for five runs in the next half inning as
Delaney Warnick homered,
AndiJo Howard had an RBI walk,
Emma McLean drove in two with a single and
Lillian Burns singled a run in.
With GSU up 6-5, the Pioneer pitching staff received insurance runs in the fifth and sixth innings as Howard and Goodman added onto the lead.
Meghan Stump relieved
Maci Boggess in the seventh and captured her first save of 2026, allowing the Pioneers to survive and eliminate Concord, 8-5.

The Pioneers will take on Frostburg State at noon on Friday (May 8) in an elimination game. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. inside James I. Moyer Sports Complex. GSU and the Bobcats split earlier in the year in Glenville.
