FAIRMONT, W.Va. – Glenville State Women's Soccer has been picked to finish 5
th in the Mountain East Conference, the league announced today. The vote was constructed by the conference's 12 head coaches.
The Pioneers are under new leadership in 2026, with former assistant coach
Nathaniel Wilkes taking over the program. Glenville State totaled 22 points in the poll, finishing ahead of new member, Shawnee State, who had just 12 points. West Virginia State was selected to win the South with 58 points and eight first-place votes, while Charleston (51 points, four first-place votes), Concord (43 points) and West Virginia Wesleyan (30 points) were picked ahead of GSU.
In the North Division, Fairmont State is predicted to repeat as champions with 59 points and nine first-place votes. Frostburg State and West Liberty tied for second, with the Bobcats charting three first-place votes as well. Point Park (42 points), Davis & Elkins (21 points) and Wheeling (18 points) rounded out the list.
Glenville State returns All-MEC Second Team and All-Freshman Team selection
Solares Solano this season, as the California native had nine goals in 2025. Additionally, a healthy mix of returners, transfers and freshman are in the mix for first-year head coach
Nathaniel Wilkes as the Pioneers open up the new campaign next Saturday (Aug. 29) at Waynesburg.
