Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers dropped two games on Saturday to the Barton College Bulldogs.
In the first game of the day Barton College would strike first in the bottom of the first inning as Andrew Webster hit a two run homer as they led GSC 2-0.
The Pioneers then tied it up at 2-2 in the top of the second as
Tanner Helms scored on a
Zach Bacon grounder and later in the inning
Zach Sanford crossed the plate.
However after that GSC would struggle the rest of the way as Barton added six more runs and took game one 8-2.
Glenville State finished with six hits and one error while Barton had 13 hits.
John Peloro went 2-for-3 for GSC while
Zach Bacon and
Hunter Johnson both and an RBI in the game.
Zach Sanford pitched 5.0 innings allowing 12 hits, eight runs, and had two strike outs.
In the second game of the day the Pioneers bats would get going early as they scored six runs in the first two innings as they led Barton 6-0.
Barton then added two runs in the bottom of the second as they made it 6-2.
Barton then had a big inning in the bottom of the fourth as they added seven runs to take their first lead of the game 9-6.
Glenville State added a late run in the top of the seventh but dropped their fifth game of the season to Barton 10-7.
The Pioneers had seven hits in the game and committed two errors while Barton finished with 12 hits and also committed two errors.
Kyle Johnston went 2-for-4 with two scored runs and an RBI while
Zach Bacon finished the day 2-for-2 with a scored run.
John Peloro and
Logan Henderson both had two RBI's each in the contest.
Art'om Rank pitched 3.2 innings allowing eight hits, six runs and had one strike out.
Glenville State (0-5) will return to action tomorrow Sunday, February 12
th as they will play another double-header against Barton College. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
