Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team picked up their first victory of the 2017 season on Sunday afternoon at home as they defeated the Mercyhurst University Lakers.
Glenville State would strike first in the bottom of the second inning as
Christian Hedinger singled scoring
Zach Sanford as the Pioneers held a 1-0 lead.
The Pioneers then added three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Logan Henderson scored
Jordan Braniff and later in the inning Henderson would score on wild pitch as GSC went up 4-0.
Mercyhurst added a run in the top of the seventh as they made it 4-1. However GSC scored another run in the bottom of the eighth as they defeated the Lakers 5-1.
Glenville State finished with seven hits while Mercyhurst finished the game with six.
Zach Bacon went 1-for-3 and scored two runs while
Christian Hedinger,
Bryan Bayliss, and
Logan Henderson all had RBI's in the game.
Tanner Helms pitched 7.0 innings allowing four hits, one run, and had three strike outs.
Glenville State (1-7) will return to action on Saturday, March 18
th as they host Wheeling Jesuit at 1:00 p.m.
