Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team picked up two wins on Sunday afternoon as they swept the Cardinals of Wheeling Jesuit University as they opened up conference play.
In the first game of the double-header the Cardinals and Pioneers would end up heading into extra innings tied up at 2-2.
Wheeling Jesuit would break the tie in the top of the 10
th inning as they scored two runs as they led GSC 4-2. Then in the bottom of the 10
th the Pioneers made it 4-3 as
Zach Bacon doubled, scoring
Isaiah Moss. Later in the same inning
Bryan Bayliss singled scoring
Zach Sanford as GSC tied it up again at 4-4.
After that score,
Zach Bacon crossed the plate as Wheeling Jesuit throw a wild pitch as the Pioneers won game one, 5-4.
Both teams recorded nine hits each in the game while GSC also committed an error.
Tanner Helms went 3-for-5 with an RBI while
Zach Bacon went 2-for-4 with two RBI's and scored the game's winning run.
Wes Stauffer pitched six innings allowing four hits, two runs, and had three strike outs.
In the second game GSC scored first, in the bottom of the first, as
Logan Henderson crossed the plate off of a
John Peloro sacrifice as the Pioneers led 1-0. GSC would strike again in the second inning as
Zach Sanford scored on an error by Wheeling Jesuit as Glenville went on to win game two, 2-0.

Zach Sanford had a great day on the mound for the Pioneers as he allowed just two hits, no runs, and had eight strike outs.
John Peloro and Brayn Bayliss each had a hit for GSC.
Glenville State (3-8, 2-0) will host West Liberty in a double-header tomorrow Monday, March 20
th at the Sue Morris Sports Complex at 1:00 p.m. Â Â Â
