Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers dropped a double-header to the Hilltoppers of West Liberty on Monday afternoon.

In game one of the double-header GSC fell behind early as West Liberty scored six runs in the top of the second inning off of five hits as they took a 6-0 lead. The Pioneers scored their first run in the bottom of the second as Zach Bacon hit a single scoring Tanner Helms as GSC pulled within five, 6-1.

Glenville State scored again in the bottom of the third as Zach Sanford crossed the plate on a wild pitch making in 6-2.

However the Hilltoppers added a homerun in the top of the fourth, with three more runs coming in the top of the fifth, and five runs in the top of the seventh as they went on defeat the Pioneers 15-2.

Glenville State recorded five hits while they allowed 13 for the Hilltoppers.

Zach Bacon went 1-for-3 with an RBI while Tanner Helms went 1-for-2 and scored a run.

Jacob Braniff pitched 3.2 innings giving up six hits, four runs, and had one strike out.

In game two, West Liberty would strike first in the top of the fourth as they scored three runs leading GSC 3-0. The Hilltoppers added three more runs in the fifth and two runs in the ninth making it 8-0.

Glenville State scored three runs in the ninth off of an error by West Liberty and a Tanner Helms doubled before dropping game two 8-3.

The Pioneers and Hilltoppers combined for 14 hits in the game.

Zach Sanford had two RBI's for GSC while Tanner Helms went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Art'om Rank pitched 4.1 innings allowing three hits, six runs, and had two strike outs.

Glenville State (3-10, 2-2) will return to action on Wednesday, March 22^nd as they host the Tigers of Salem International at 3:00 p.m. at the Sue Morris Sports Complex.
