Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team picked up a non-conference victory on Wednesday afternoon over the Tigers of Salem International.
GSC got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the first
Tanner Helms crushed a double which scored
Zach Sanford and
John Peloro as GSC held a 2-0 lead.
The Tigers would score a run in the second inning pulling within one, 2-1.
However Glenville State scored another two runs in the fourth this time off a
Logan Henderson double scoring
Bryan Bayliss and
Kyle Johnston doubled which scored Logan as the Pioneers led 4-1.
GSC added another late run in the fifth inning, their last run of the game, as
Tanner Helms scored on an error as the Pioneers picked up the 5-1 win.
Kyle Johnston went 3-for-5 with an RBI while
Tanner Helms went 2-for-2 with two RBI's.
Karl Bennington Jr. picked up the win on the mound as he pitched 6.0 innings allowing eight hits, one run, and struck out three batters.
Glenville State (4-10, 2-2) hits the road this weekend as they travel to Shepherd University on Friday, March 24
th for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the Rams and on Saturday, March 25
th they take on the Falcons of Fairmont State at 1:00 p.m.
