Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team spilt a double-header with the Blue Knights of Urbana University on Friday afternoon.
Game one saw the Pioneers take an early 1-0 lead in the second inning off of a
Jordan Braniff double scoring
Zach Bacon.
The Blue Knights tied it up at 1-1 in the bottom of the second after a fielder's choice.
Glenville State broke the tie in the sixth inning as
Zach Bacon hit a sacrifice bunt that scored
Logan Henderson as the Pioneers went on to take the first game 2-1.
The Pioneers racked up eight hits as a team while they allowed five hits by Urbana.
Jordan Braniff went 2-for-3 with an RBI while
Zach Bacon went 1-for-2 with an RBI and scored a run.
Brady Wilkinson picked up his first win of the season on the mound as he pitched 5.2 innings allowing five hits, one run, and struck out four batters.
Game two saw the Pioneers take a 2-0 lead in the second inning as
Christian Hedinger singled scoring
Zach Sanford and
Zach Bacon had a sacrifice bunt that scored
Logan Henderson.
Urbana got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second making it 2-1.
GSC added a run in the fifth as
Zach Bacon hit a solo homerun, his first of the season, making it 3-1.
However Urbana scored three runs with two outs in the bottom of the seventh as they won game two, 4-3 over the Pioneers.
Christian Hedinger went 1-for-3 with an RBI while
Zach Bacon went 2-for-2 with two RBI's.
Glenville State (6-15, 3-7) will host the Falcons of Notre Dame College this Sunday, April 2
nd at 1:00 p.m. from the Sue Morris Sports Complex.Â
