Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers dropped a double-header on Monday at home to the Concord University Mountain Lions after sweeping CU on Sunday.
In the first game of the double-header Concord would jump out to an early 5-0 lead over GSC as they scored five runs in the second coming off of two homeruns in the inning.
The Mountain Lions added two more runs in the third taking a 7-0 lead. Concord then had two more homeruns in the fifth as they led 9-0.
Glenville State got on the scoreboard in the sixth as
John Peloro hit a single scoring
Bryan Bayliss making it 9-1. GSC added two more runs later in the
seventh as
Isaiah Moss singled to center scoring
Logan Henderson and
Bryan Bayliss singled scoring
Isaiah Moss however the Pioneers fell 9-3.
GSC finished with seven hits while giving up 13 hits to the Mountain Lions. Concord also had four homeruns in the game.
John Peloro went 1-for-3 with an RBI while
Isaiah Moss went 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Tanner Helms pitched 2.0 innings allowing five runs on five hits with one strike out.Â
Concord again jumped out to an early lead in game two in the second inning as the Mountain Lions scored four runs off of two homers as they held a 4-0 lead over GSC.
The Pioneers scored in the third as
John Peloro hit an RBI single scoring
Bryan Bayliss as GSC made it 4-1.
The Mountain Lions added three more runs in fourth as they built a 7-1 lead. Concord then added two more in sixth off of a two run homerun as they led 9-1.
Hunter Johnson hit a two run homerun in the bottom of the sixth as GSC pulled within six 9-3.
However Concord scored four more runs in the ninth as they defeated GSC in the second game 14-3.
Concord racked up 19 hits while the Pioneers finished the game with nine.
John Peloro went 2-for-4 with an RBI and
Hunter Johnson went 1-for-3 with two RBI's.
Jacob Braniff pitched 2.2 innings giving up three runs on three hits and had one strike out.
Glenville State (13-25, 10-14) will travel to take on Salem International on Wednesday, April 26
th at 3:00 p.m.
