Pioneers Sweep Tigers on the Road

Glenville, W.Va. – The GSC Pioneer baseball team swept the Salem International Tigers on the road Wednesday afternoon.

Game one saw the Pioneers explode for 15 hits as they defeated the Tigers 10-7.

GSC would strike first in the first as Zach Bacon was walked with the bases loaded scoring Logan Henderson as the Pioneers took a 1-0 lead.

Salem would come right back and tie it up in the bottom of the first. However the Tigers then went on to take their first lead of the game in the second as they scored two runs off of a homer as they led 3-1.

John Peloro hit a solo homerun in the fifth, his second of the season, as he made 4-2. But again the Tigers came right back scoring three runs in the fifth as they led 7-2.

Glenville State then had a great sixth and seventh innings as they scored four runs in both innings as they came from behind to beat the Tigers 10-7.

Zach Bacon went 2-for-3 with three RBI's while Isaiah Moss went 2-for-5 with three RBI's.

Zach Sanford picked up the win on the mound.

Again in game two the Pioneers had their bats going as they racked up 10 hits while committing one error in a 5-3 win over the Tigers.

Salem International took an early 3-0 lead after the first inning. The Pioneers responded in the second as they scored two runs of off an Isaiah Moss RBI single scoring Zach Sanford and then Hunter Johnson crossed the plate on a Tigers error making it 3-2.

GSC then tied the game up at 3-3 in the fourth off of a single by Bryan Bayliss which scored Isaiah Moss.

The Pioneers took their first lead of the game in the fifth as Isaiah Moss hit a sacrifice fly scoring Zach Bacon and John Peloro as GSC went on to take game two 5-3.

Isaiah Moss went 2-for-2 with two RBI's while Wesley Stauffer earned the win on the mound. 

Glenville State (15-25, 10-14) will travel to West Virginia State University this weekend on Saturday, April 29th and Sunday, April 30th for a four game series.
