Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneer baseball team season came to an end on Sunday as they split a double-header with the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan.
Glenville State racked up eight hits and committed two errors as they took game one on Sunday from the Bobcats 7-3.
The Bobcats would strike first in the contest in the second inning as they took a 1-0 lead.
GSC would tie it up in the third at 1-1 off of a
Kyle Johnston single to left field scoring
Jordan Braniff.
The Pioneers then took their first lead of the game at 7-1 in the fifth as they scored six runs off of four RBI's and a two run homer from
Zach Sanford, his third homerun of the year.
The Bobcats would add a run in the sixth and a run in the seventh but the Pioneers held on to the 7-3 victory.
Kyle Johnston finished the game 2-for-4 with two RBI's while
Zach Sanford went 1-for-3 with a two run homerun.
Tanner Helms claimed his fifth victory of the season as he pitched the entire game allowing three runs on 10 hits and struck out two batters.
Game two saw the Bobcats get two good pitching performances from Hunter Rotarius and Chirs Metrick as they held the Pioneers scoreless picking up the 7-0 win.
Danny McCormick,
Kyle Johnston, and
Zach Bacon had the only hits for the Pioneers as they managed just three in the game and committed two errors in the loss.
Brady Wilkinson pitched 5.0 innings allowing five runs on eight hits and had four strike outs.
