Fairmont, W.Va. – The GSC Lady Pioneer Acrobatics & Tumbling team punched their ticket to the inaugural MEC Championship on Friday as they defeated the Bobcats of West Virginia Wesleyan in the semifinals, 257.395 to 248.860.

Glenville State took an early lead after the compulsory event as they took it, 35.275 to 34.475. GSC's two highest scores came in the pyramid scoring a 9.7 and in the toss scoring a 9.8. WVWC's two highest scores came in the pyramid scoring a 9.55 and the toss 9.475.

The Lady Pioneers then won the acro event outscoring the Bobcats 29.575 to 27.60. GSC scored over a 9.25 in all three heats while the Bobcats highest score came in heat one as they scored an 8.975. The running score was 63.30 to 59.65.

Glenville State won the pyramid event scoring a 29.575 to WVWC's 27.60. The Bobcats scored a 9.6 in heat three while the Lady Pioneers scored a 10. GSC took a lead into halftime over the Bobcats 92.875 to 87.25.

In the first event after the break the Lady Pioneers won the toss event defeating the Bobcats 25.750 to 25.625. GSC scored an 8.675 in heat one and an 8.625 in heat three. WVWC's highest score came in heat two 8.725.

Running total heading into tumbling event saw GSC leading 118.625 to 112.875.

Glenville State then won the tumbling event defeating West Virginia Wesleyan, 51.90 to 48.525. The Lady Pioneers had four heats with a score over 9.1. They scored a 9.15 in heat one, a 9.525 in heat four, a 9.25 in heat five, and a 9.75 in heat six.

WVWC's highest score came in heat four as they scored an 8.950. The running total heading into the final event saw the Lady Pioneers leading the Bobcats, 170.525 to 161.40.

In the final event, the team event, GSC fell to WVWC 87.46 to 86.87 however the Lady Pioneers went on to defeat the Bobcats 257.395 to 248.86 as they advanced to the MEC Championship.

Glenville State (6-1) will take on the winner of Fairmont State/West Liberty in semifinal two tomorrow on Saturday, April 13^th at 4 p.m. from Joe Retton Arena for the MEC Championship.
