Pioneer Baseball host Jefferson in Home Opener

Glenville, W.Va. – Pioneer baseball will host Jefferson University in a three game series in the 2020 home opening weekend.

The Pioneers come off a three game sweep against Mid-Atlantic Christian University where Jesse Weathers, Joseph Rubalcaba and Jose Rodriguez each earned their first season win.
 
The Pioneers took the series, 8-4, 8-0 and 20-1 gaining their first 3-0 start of the season.
 
Jefferson University will begin their season against the Pioneers. During their 2019 season the Rams finished 19-31 overall and 16-16 in conference action totaling 26 homeruns, .274 team batting average and .366 on base percentage.  
 
Pioneer Highlights

The Pioneers lead the country in batting average at .398 after their opening weekend and second in scoring avergaing 12 runs a game. 
 
Mathew Mangum and Zach Morris lead the offensive attack at the plate with a .600 average. Both tally six hits on the year as Mangum has one homerun and Morris tallies two doubles.
 
Tre'von Smith leads the Blue and White slugging 1.143% touching eight bases with three RBIs.
 
Tyler Philips has tallied six RBIs on the year with John Peloro following at four.

The Pioneers will return to action February 20th and 22nd hosting Ohio Valley University and Mercyhurst.
