How It Happened
Game One : Glenville 4, Bluefield 3
In game one, the Blue and White defeated the Blue Devils 3-2 in the 13th innings.
Abe Stearns gained the win on the mound pitching four innings.
Bluefield got on the board first leading 1-0 in the top of the seventh.
The Pioneers responded quickly as Ryker Rivera would pinch hit for a single in the seventh scoring Shane Talvaccio from second time tie the ball game one all forcing the ball game into extras.
The Blue Devils scored their second run in the top of the eighth as Tre'von Smith then hit a homerun to tie the game again at two a piece.
In the top of the ninth, BSU responded with a homerun where Duane Englund added a homerun over the left field wall to tie the game again at three all.
Fast forward to the 13th, Devonte Rose walked and stole second as Johny Arroyo came up to the plate. From there Arroyo hit a single up the middle scoring Rose from second to win 4-3.
Game Two : Glenville 8, Bluefield 7
Eddie Mitchell earned the win on the mound throwing six pitches in the seventh where Joseph Rubacaba pitched the first six innings.
In the first, Talvaccio hit a sac fly scoring John Peloro from third gaining an early 1-0 lead.
In the second, BSU tied the game in the top half off two hits. GSC responded quick talking four runs across the board to take a 5-1 lead.
The Blue Devils added a run in the fifth inning where Mathew Mangum and Ryan Rodriguez both added RBI singles to extend their lead up to 7-2.
BSU responded with an RBI double, following a grand slam to tie the ball game once again at seven all in the top half of the seventh.
The Pioneers looking to walk-off game two, Ryker Rivera lead off the inning with a double to left. Duane Englund then it a infield single causing a first and third situation for the Blue Devils. Mathew Mangum then hit a sac fly to center to win the ball game 8-7!
