Box Score 2 Philippi, W.Va. – The Pioneers dropped a pair in the night cap totaling just 11 hits in their 3-1 loss and 16-4 loss against Notre Dame College
How It Happened
Game One:
Though a shy hitting contest for the Pioneers,
John Peloro opened the contest with a single to left however, the Battlers quickly took a 2-0 lead in the first.
Tre'von Smith then found himself standing at second after first being hit by pitch then stealing second. However, Smith would be left stranded as GSC continued to trail.
Ryan Rodriguez and
Duane Englund picked up Glenville's second and third hits on the day before AB scored their third run in the foot of the fourth.
In the top of the sixth, the Pioneers would swipe a run as both
Zach Morris and
John Peloro each drew walks. Englund then forced a Battler error scoring Morris bringing the Pioneers 3-1.
In the GSC's final attempt to pick up the win, Mathew Mangum drew a walk with
Colby Werry following behind with a single right.
John Peloro would hit into a fielder's choice advancing Mangum to third however AB would prevail earning a 3-1 victory.
Adam Riggleman picked up the loss on the mound in game one pitching a full 6.0 innings totaling eight strikeouts while giving up just four hits.
Game Two:
The Battlers were quick to score in game two gaining a 2-0 lead before the Pioneers answered back.
Ryker Rivera drew a walk in the second and found himself scoring on a wild pitch with
Shane Talvacchio adding a single to left and scoring of
Ryan Rodriguez's sac fly. The Battlers however would go on to score six runs in the foot of the inning and another six runs in the next as GSC trailed 14-2 in the third.
AB swiped another two runs in the fourth.
In the sixth, Talvacchio hit an RBI single to short scoring
Tre'von Smith who picked a spot on first off a AB error.
In the seventh,
Colby Werry singled to short. Then
Hunter Brown followed behind with a single forcing an AB error scoring Werry. The Pioneers would go on to fall 16-4.
Inside The Box Score
Glenville State totaled 11 hits on the day where as Alderson Broaddus picked up 20.
Colby Werry lead the Pioneers with three hits on the day as
Duane Englund and
Shane Talvacchio followed each with two.
Zack Morris drew two walks on in the night cap.

The Pioneers will face off against Notre Dame College tomorrow for a double header.
