Pioneer, Fighting Falcons & Bobcat
After sweeping the Falcons of Notre Dame College this past weekend, the Pioneers enter week five with an 8-5 overall and 4-4 conference record. Glenville State in conference play are hitting .297 at the plate tallying 74 hits.
Fairmont will being in slight completion this weekend as they are 2-4 in conference play after dropping four against the University of Charleston and West Virginia State University. In FSU & GSC's last meeting, the Pioneers split dropping a 1-0 game and picking up a 3-0 win. Jacob Goodnight holds the Falcons in the offensive attack with a .429 with PJ Lanham leading in home runs with three on the season.
Frostburg also enters the double-header matchup with a 4-10 overall and 2-4 conference hold. FSU split with WVSU in week four of MEC action as they as a whole are hitting .259 though their opponents are hitting .310 against the Bobcats.
Pioneer Highlights
Tre'von Smith and
John Peloro are tied for team high home runs with three on the season as Smith picked up two bombs last weekend.
With a .406 batting average,
Zach Morris leads the Pioneers in their offensive attack with 13 hits on the season.
Duane Englund and Mathew Mangum each have chipped in with 15 and 12 hits, respectively.
Mangum is also the GSC's leader in walks drawn at 12 on the season.
Defensively for GSC,
Jesse Weathers,
Jose Rodriguez and
Adam Riggleman each have picked up a save for the Pioneers. Weather's maintains the lowest ERA with a 1.13 as Riggleman has 16 strikeouts on the year.
