GLENVILLE – Coach Jimmy Mullins' Glenville baseball team opens Mountain East Conference play this weekend, traveling to the Northern Panhandle to face a pair of MEC Northern Division foes. They play at West Liberty on Sunday, then come off the hill to face Wheeling on Monday.
Glenville is currently ranked seventh in the Atlantic Region, and has opened the season with a 12-2 mark. They are currently 8-2 against opponents from the PSAC.
Six different Pioneers are hitting above .300 through the first 14 games; Ryan Rodriguez (.378), Mitch Lohr (.370), Fabian Escalante (.333), Darius Barton (.323), and Matthew Mangum (.303), and Calen Kampes (.300). Kampes leads the team in power numbers with four home runs and 19 RBI's. Zach Morris is just below the .300 mark (.297).
GSU has benefited from some stellar starting pitching; Both Adam Riggleman and Diego Tamariz are 4-0, with Austin Corn at 3-0 and a save. Corn is currently 10th in the nation with a 0.53 ERA.
First pitch each doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00.
