Glenville- Pioneer baseball is looking to add more to the list of accomplishments to their historic 2022 season. For the second time in the programs history Glenville is in the Mountain East Conference Tournament. However, this time the Pioneers are entering the tournament with the most wins in school history.

A Look at Glenville State
From an offensive standpoint the Pioneers enter postseason play with a team batting average of .290, 41 home runs, and 318 RBI's as a team. The Pioneers also have seven players with a batting average over .300. Fabian Escalante leads the team with a batting average of .363. Fabian has also proved to be a great defensive asset for the Pioneers in right field. With his speed and arm Fabian produces defensive highlights in key moments for Glenville. Glenville's Tre'von Smith has been a home run machine for the Pioneers earning him the title the Hitman. Smith leads the team with 12 home runs on the season and has the most home runs in the program's history. Tre'von is also the schools all-time leader in hits, RBI's, batting average, and triples.

Glenville's bullpen this year has been one the best in the Mountain East Conference with the lowest team ERA 4.61. Adam Riggleman leads the team in strikeouts and wins this season. Riggleman is currently the all-time leader in wins and strikeouts in the program's history. Adam last Sunday picked up his 200^th career strikeout against Concord. This makes Riggleman the first pitcher in Pioneer history to reach this milestone. Jose Rodriguez has been the definition of clutch for the Pioneer's bullpen. With Jose being used as a closer, he has gotten the Pioneer's out of many high-pressure situations this year. Rodriguez leads the team with five saves and is currently third in the Mountain East Conference.

A Look at Frostburg State
Glenville faces the top seed from the North Division Frostburg State. Frostburg enters the tournament with 32-15 record and 22-10 in conference play. Frostburg is ranked in the top five statistically in batting average and ERA in the league. As a team Frostburg has combined for 69 home runs which is the most in the conference. Bryce Jackson Leads the Bobcats in batting average, hits, RBI's, and hoe runs. Frostburg also has three other players on their starting lineup batting over .350.

Frostburg's bullpen leads the conference in saves this season with ten. Jacob Stretch has been a dominant closer for Frostburg picking up seven saves on the year. Starting pitchers Ethan Kiple and Will Grove have been able to provide Frostburg with great starts the entire season. Both starting pitchers lead the team with the two lowest ERA's for the Bobcats 

What's at Stake
For both teams this first game is key for their postseason journeys. For the Pioneers it would be the first postseason win the Mountain East Conference Tournament. With Glenville having a great non-conference resume, the Pioneers still have a chance to make it to the NCAA Regional for the first time in school history. The winner of game two will play winner of Concord vs Fairmont State Friday at 7:00pm. While the loser of game tow will play the loser of Charleston vs Notre Dame College.
