BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Glenville State guard Re'Shawna Stone was voted the Mountain East Conference Female Athlete of the Year, the league office announced on Thursday afternoon following a vote of the league's administrators and conference staff.
Stone earned first team All-America honors from D2CCA and was named the Mountain East Conference and Atlantic Region Player of the Year after leading the Pioneers to the 2021-22 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball National Championship. She was also voted as the Division II National Player of the Year by World Exposure Report.
Stone helped lead the Pioneers to a 35-1 overall record this season, averaging 16.8 points and 4.3 rebounds, while also leading the team in assists (123) and steals (76). She scored 604 points this season for the Pioneers while shooting 52 percent from the floor, 39 percent from three and 80 percent from the charity stripe. Stone ranks in the top five in Glenville State women's basketball history in career scoring with 1,963 career points.
Stone was named the MVP of the NCAA Division II Elite Eight.
The MEC Female Athlete of the Year is selected by a vote of institutional administrators and the conference office.
