Katarzyna Niderla Named MEC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week

Bridgeport, W.Va - Glenville State middle blocker Katarzyna Niderla was named the MEC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week, presented by The Health Plan, the league office announced Monday afternoon.

Niderla, a Junior Middle Blocker from Poniatowa, Poland, produced 71 kills, 10 blocks, 11 aces, 58 digs, and scored 91 points for the Lady Pioneers. During this past week, Glenville posted a record of 4-1. To cap the weekend, Katarzyna also played 6 rotations as a middle and hit 17 kills on 25 attempts during the Lock Haven match. Currently, she is second in kills in the MEC with 116 and second in points with 149.5.

West Liberty's Nyia Setla has earned Mountain East Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

Setla, a sophomore libero from Northville, Mich., led the Hilltoppers to a 3-1 week at the Cedarville Inviational that was played on Friday and Saturday. From her defensive position, she recorded 95 digs in 15 sets played. On day one of the Cedarville Invite, she had back-to-back 30 dig performances, including 31 against Saginaw Valley State and 30 against host Cedarville. She also added three aces against Cedarville and scattered 10 assists through the weekend's four matches.
