Preview: Five Pioneer Wrestlers Ready for NCAA Championships in Wichita

GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Glenville State Wrestling will have five Pioneers competing at the NCAA Wrestling Championships tomorrow (Mar. 15) through Saturday (Mar. 16) in Wichita, Kansas.

133 – GAVIN QUIOCHO 
Gavin Quiocho brings a record of (35-2) into Wichita, receiving the #3 seed in the 133 bracket. Quiocho will defend his 2023 national championship at the same seed he won it at last year. He is slated to wrestle Caleb Meekins (17-7) of St. Cloud State in the opening round. 

157 – GAETANO DELEONARDIS 
Gaetano DeLeonardis enters (38-8), earning the #5 seed in the 157-pound division. DeLeonardis drew Lander's Jack Tangen (2-1) in the opening round of the bracket. 

165 – BRADY ROSS 
Brady Ross comes into Wichita with a record of (23-18) after finishing second in the Super Region 3 Finals. Ross will wrestle in the preliminary round against Caleb Grau (13-5) of UNC Pembroke. 

197 – NICK JOHNSON 
Nick Johnson (13-5) rolled to a 1st place finish in the 197-pound class at the Super Region 3 Tournament, earning a bid into this year's NCAA Championship. Johnson was selected to face the #1 seed, Dalton Abney (14-0) of Central Oklahoma. 

HWT – GAVIN SHAMBLIN 
Gavin Shamblin (34-16) secured his first bid into Nationals at the Super Region 3 Tournament when he finished 2nd in the heavyweight division. Shamblin, a four-year member of the GSU Wrestling team, will wrestle #2 Isaiah Vance (4-0) of Pitt-Johnstown in the opening round.
