BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The Glenville State Wrestling team has been picked to three-peat as Mountain East Conference champions in the MEC Preseason Coaches Poll, the league announced today.
 
The Pioneers have won back-to-back MEC championships in 2024 and 2025, dethroning league powerhouse West Liberty. Glenville State received 47 points and five first-place votes, right in front of the Hilltoppers, who took the remaining three first-place votes and 45 total points. Frostburg State (34 points) is picked to finish third while Fairmont State and Wheeling were tied for 4^th at 29 points. Salem, who is an MEC member in wrestling, is tabbed 6^th with 20 points as Davis & Elkins (12 points) and Point Park (eight points) rounded out the poll.
 
Glenville State is coming off of an historic 2024-25 season, where the Pioneers captured an MEC championship, the NCAA DII Super Region 3 championship and had four grapplers earn All-American status, the most in a single season in program history. GSU opens up their highly anticipated 2025-26 campaign on Saturday (Nov. 1) at home in the Pioneer Open presented by GoMart.
