GLENVILLE, W.Va. - Nationally ranked Glenville State Wrestling will be sending a select number of Pioneers to Case Western Reserve tomorrow (Nov. 9) for the Ohio Collegiate Open. The open provides a freshman and sophomore division, which GSU will be taking full advantage of.
"Mostly what this weekend is about is not results, it's about mat time and trying to get better," said head coach Dylan Cottrell on the Pioneer Coaches Show. "A lot of our old guys aren't going, it's really just our young guys. We have 16 in the freshman / sophomore division and wrestling in the open."
The Pioneers are coming off a 14-team tournament win at the Pioneer Open presented by GoMart, where Ethan Hardy (141), Hayden Pummel (174) and Colby Whitehill (285) won their weight classes in dominating fashion. Cottrell and his Pioneers are looking to get fully healthy as the season picks up, with All-Americans Colton Drousias and Nick Johnson eyeing a comeback in the near future to bolster the Pioneer lineup.Â
Matches will start at 10 a.m. inside the Veale Convocation, Recreation, and Athletic Center in Cleveland.
