Preview: Postseason Begins for Wrestling at NCAA Super Region 3 Championships

2/27/2026 12:10:00 PM

GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Wrestling will be heading to the NCAA DII Super Region 3 Championships at the University of Findlay tomorrow (Feb. 28) as the Pioneers will be looking to capture a second-consecutive title and qualify individuals for nationals.

Sixth-year head coach Dylan Cottrell and the 11th ranked Pioneers have dealt with the injury bug all season long, much like many wrestling programs do, and have constructed their best lineup to defend the program's first-ever regional championship.

Colton Drousias gets the nod at 125, holding a (14-4) record and No. 8 national ranking. Zachary Parker, who has wrestled his way into the lineup as the season progressed, enters the weekend (12-9) overall. 141 pounds fifth-ranked wrestler Ethan Hardy spent a portion of the season as the nation's #1 grappler, is (21-2) this season after redshirting a year ago. Gabe Onorato recently re-joined the lineup after a mid-season injury and is (20-3, No. 5 nationally) this season. True freshman Jimmie Bailes has been what the Pioneers needed and more out of the youngster, boasting a (20-6) record in his first collegiate season.

The lineup flips to recent addition Leo Hess III, who joined the action mid-year and is (2-0) through a limited amount of action at 165. Drexel transfer Roman Onorato has wrestled at a pair of weight classes, and will be the 174-pound grappler for the Pioneers, showcasing a (9-5) overall record. Mid-year addition Ethan Lopez has been a sparkplug for Coach Cottrell, logging a (6-2) record at 184 pounds. Nick Johnson has lost just once this season (18-1) and is No. 2 in the country at 197 while Colby Whitehill is (18-3) and ranked 8th at heavyweight heading into the weekend.

The action starts at 10 a.m. and will be streaming on FloSports ($) inside Robert A. Malcolm Athletic Center.
