GLENVILLE, W.Va. – Glenville State Softball will be back out of the state of West Virginia as the Pioneers will head to Salem, Virginia this weekend for the WVWC Tournament. GSU will take on Bloomsburg and Shepherd on Saturday (Mar. 14) before challenging Shippensburg and Seton Hill on Sunday (Mar. 15).

THE OPPONENTS
BLOOMSBURG
Bloomsburg comes in (6-2) overall and are on a five-game winning streak, most recently defeating Bowie State and Jefferson in doubleheaders.
Alizabeth Schuler is batting a team-leading .524 with 11 hits, one home run, four RBIs and two doubles. Sarah Yamrick is also off to a hot start, notching a .455 AVG with 10 hits and four RBIs. Allie Wenrich has been the biggest threat in the lineup, as she already has four home runs, 11 RBIs and one double with a .345 AVG. Bloomsburg's best pitcher has been Yamrick, who's (4-0) with a 2.33 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 27.0 IP.
SHEPHERD
Shepherd enters Saturday's matchup (3-5) overall, previously splitting with Pace and having their doubleheader with Fairmont State canceled.
Haylee Hartman has been the most impressive Rams hitter, boasting a .421 AVG, one HR, four RBIs and one triple. Brenna Collis and Samantha Colaw have both hit a home run as well, with Collis leading the team in runs batted in with five. On the mound, Shepherd has gotten production out of Madelayne Ruffner (1-3, 1.57 ERA, 47 strikeouts, 26.2 IP), Colaw (1-1, 2.21 ERA, 12.2 IP) and Natalee Harvey (1-1, 2.93 ERA, 10 strikeouts, 14.1 IP).
SHIPPENSBURG
Shippensburg is (7-3) on the young season, winning three of their last four against Pitt-Johnstown and Pace. SU will take on MEC foes Charleston and West Liberty tomorrow before squaring off with the Pioneers.
Gianna Cimino has brought the most power through 10 games, showcasing a .389 AVG with four home runs, nine RBIs, one double and 14 hits. Sarah Sabocsik has been impressive as well, hitting .381 with three home runs, eight RBIs and three doubles. Four other Raiders have notched a home run, as the team has showcased their power with 12 team HRs. In the circle, Dani Hayward has led the SU squad, going (5-0) with a 2.26 ERA and 29 strikeouts in 31.0 IP.
SETON HILL
The Griffins are (4-10) this season and are coming off of a (3-7) trip to Florida where they played common opponents of the Pioneers in SW Minnesota State, Sioux Falls and Wheeling.
As a team, SHU has yet to hit one over the fence, but they are getting RBI production from a plethora of players. Kassidy Wittig, Shelby Telegdy and Anna Kalkowski all have six RBIs, with Wittig being third on the team in AVG (.341) and first in hits (15). Telegdy is hitting just .256, but seven of her 10 hits have come via the double in 13 games played.
THE PIONEERS
GLENVILLE STATE
The Pioneers are off to the hottest start in program history, entering the weekend (12-4) overall after winning five games in Florida during spring break.
Glenville State features six Pioneers in the lineup with an average of .300 or better, including the team's leader
Zailees Seda. The former Saint Peter's transfer has been on a tear thus far, hitting .490 with 24 hits, four doubles, one triple and eight RBIs.

The pitching staff continues to be phenomenal for sixth-year head coach
Sara Scoone, as
Meghan Stump (3-0, 1.53 ERA, 10 Ks, 18.1 IP) and
Kylie Burdick (6-1, 1.67 ERA, 34 Ks, 5 CG, 46.0 IP) have both produced ERAs below 2.00.
Maci Boggess is right there with Stump and Burdick, recording a 2.01 ERA and (3-2) record in 31.1 IP.
