Name: James E. "Jed" Drenning, Athlete - Assistant Coach

Jed Drenning, a native of Davis (WV), is the most prolific passer in the history of the WVIAC. Drenning is remembered as the only player in league history to top 10,000 yards in passing and total offense, which he accomplished in only three years. He was the first quarterback to excel in head football coach Rich Rodriguez's "no huddle offense". Jed holds every major career passing mark at GSC. He earned First Team All WVIAC honors in 1991, 1992, and 1993 and was named WVIAC Offensive Player of the Year in 1992 and 1993. Drenning was named First Team NAIA All American in 1992 and 1993. Additionally, he was the WVIAC All Time Total Offense Leader with 11,319 yards/97 total touchdowns and holds the WVIAC's Highest Average Career Pass Yards per Game (33 Games: 329.6 YPG). Jed was the 1993 Hardman Award Winner as State Amateur Athlete of the Year and received GSC's Frank Montrose Award in 1994. He has played professionally in the Arena Football League and the European Football Federation. Drenning also served as an Assistant Coach at GSC in 1994, 1995, and 1999. Jed and his wife Christina, have two sons, Dillion and Maverick. They reside in Davis, West Virginia.
