Kim west a part of Glenville's initial basketball program in the 1975. This was the year that GSC fielded a team in the AIAW, the precursor to Women's Game becoming fully recognized by the NCAA and NAIA.
 
West a standout scorer on the early teams, averaging 12.9 as a freshman and 15.7 points in her sophomore year of 1976, which was over a third of the team's average. She averaged 12.1 in 1977, and 15.7 in her senior year of 1978, teaming with stars Kim Short and Debbie Grogg to lead the Lady Pioneers to a 23-14 mark over those two seasons.
 
West was also a volleyball star on the first ever squad. After Glenville, she went on to a long career in the public schools. She has been a strong proponent of the growth of female sports in the state, and served as one of the state's most highly regarded officials for several decades. She still resides locally in the Braxton County town of Burnsville.
