Class of: 1989
Matt Bullett is third on GSC's all-time scoring list in basketball. He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1985 where he had "the drive" to play basketball. He credits his Dad for a lot of that drive noting that "his dad was a real-real person who worked a lot" and explains "I just wanted him to read about me in the papers". Bullett gives "great thanks" to Coach Gary Nottingham for developing him to be the best he could be. Bullett is best remembered for his outstanding senior season at GSC in which he averaged 31.7 points per game and helped lead the Pioneers to the WVIAC Final Four. He also served as co-captain of his basketball team during his senior year. Matt continues to remain GSC's single-season scoring leader in men's basketball. He was named Most Valuable Player at the Joe Manchin Tournament in 1985 and again in 1986. In 1986 he was WVIAC Tournament Leading Scorer with 126 points in four games. He earned First Team All WVIAC honors in 1986 and 1987, NAIA All American Honors in 1987, and was named WVIAC Player of the Year in 1987. Matt and his wife, Tina, have one daughter, Meredith.
