Name: Steve "Reno" Gandee, Athlete
Class of: 1982
Steve "Reno" Gandee a native of Clendenin, lettered in football and baseball during his college career. Steve received Honorable Mention All WVIAC in Football during his senior year and was his team's captain. "Reno", was he is known by most everyone at GSC, scored a total of 127 points for the Pioneers and compiled 698 yards and had 8 touchdown receptions on 40 pass catches in his career. Additionally, he established a then school record 47 yard field goal. "Reno" finished his four year baseball career with a winning pitching record and was captain of his baseball team in 1981 and 1982. While at GSC, he also served as a student representative on the Athletic Committee and was a resident assistant and head resident assistant. After completing his schooling at GSC, Steve remained at Glenville and was a housing director while serving as a graduate assistant football coach in 1982. After receiving his Masters Degree in Business Administration from WVU in 1985, he returned to his alma mater as a visiting instructor in the Division of Business and served as an assistant football coach. Also in 1985, he completed the WVSSC mandated basketball officials training program which led him to his current 24 years of officiating basketball at the high school level and his 14th year at the WVIAC Level. In 2001, Steve was selected as the National Federation Officials Association Boys Basketball Official of the Year for West Virginia. He currently is secretary/treasurer for the WVIAC Basketball Officials Association. Steve received his Juris Doctorate in 1989 and has, on occasion, served as an adjunt professor at his alma mater, teaching among other subjects business law based on his experience as an attorney in West Virginia. He currently serves as Chairman of the Department of Litigation for the statewide law firm of Robinson & McElwee, PLLC. Steve is married to the former Tamra "Tammy" Burkhamer '83. They have two children, Stephenee and Andrew.
