Class of: 1967
Gary Blake, a native of Richwood, competed in football, basketball, baseball, and golf during his college career. He was a two-time All Conference performer as wide receiver and received Small College Honorable Mention All-American honors his senior year. One of the WVIAC's premier golfers, Blake went on to enjoy a successful career as a Club Pro. In 1974, he became a Class-A Member of the PGA of America and Head Golf Professional at Oxbow Golf and Country Club. In 1983, Blake qualified for and played in the BC Open in New York, a PGA Tour event. He has won numerous State and Tri-State tournaments including two State PGA Championships, was twice runner-up in the West Virginia Open, twice named West Virginia PGA Player of the Year and in 2003, was selected as one of twelve professionals to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup Matches, held at the Latrobe Country Club in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Blake has helped to design and build two golf courses, these being the Classic Golf Club in Parkersburg and the Woodridge Plantation in Mineral Wells. Gary and his wife, Claudia, reside in Ocala, FL.
