Cam Henderson, inducted posthumously, was a Marion County native and a highly successful coach at Muskingum, Davis & Elkins, and Marshall Colleges. He was cited in Ripley's Believe it or Not in 1933 for coaching all sports at Davis & Elkins without assistants, trainers, or scouts. Mr. Henderson is noted for pioneering basketball's fast break, zone defense, and the warm-up weave, later used by the Harlem Globetrotters. His record for the 35 years he coached was 630-243. Henderson's Marshall team won the NAIB Tournament in 1947. He recruited Hal Greer, the first African-American player at Marshall and later, a star in the NBA. The "Cam Henderson Center" in Huntington is named in his honor. Henderson, who died in 1956, is buried in Glenville.
