Ike and Sue Morris have a long, proven record of service in support of the mission and goals of the Glenville State College Athletic program.  They have supported and helped finance much to help GSC Athletics.  Their contributions include:
  1.  Renovations to the football stadium, which include
  1.  Installation of field turf, twice
  2.  Installation and painting of goal posts
  3.  New chain link fencing, including spraying it blue
  4.  Installation of a blue track surface
  5.  Installation of bleachers for opposing teams’ fans
  6.  Painting of the Woodyard Room facility
  7.  Improvements to the Football Field
House that included new flooring and painting; also a second story.
  1.  Re-surfacing of the stadium’s parking lot
  1.   Construction of the softball field, including the installation of fencing, a press box, bleachers, and lighting and when this was removed to make way for the Waco Center, they constructed the Sue Morris Sports Complex, which provides state of the art sports facilities for not only GSC but for other softball and baseball teams.  The facility is currently adding artificial turf to the baseball fields for the benefit of local and college baseball teams.  Their generosity and continued support of Gilmer County can be seen in many aspects through the area.
  2.   Financial support to the scholarship programs in football, men’s and women’s basketball and other sports
  3.   Major financing of the Waco Center
  4.   Various donations to the Athletic program to purchase much needed equipment
  5.   Provided assistance to various fund raisers conducted by the Athletics Department and specific sport programs.
  6.   These are just a few of the many contributions of Ike and Sue Morris to the Athletic programs at Glenville State College.  Their support has allowed a small-budget athletic program to survive and thrive through some very difficult economic times.  Glenville State College would have never experienced success in Athletics to the degree that it has without their loyal, financial support.  However, their commitment to GSC extends well beyond the playing fields.  From the new Criminal Justice Center to the funding of various positions and programs, both academic and athletic, Glenville State College has benefitted from the friendship of these two very special and giving people.  Ike and Sue are true “Pioneers” in every sense of the word and are so very deserving for inclusion into the Glenville State College Curtis Elam Athletic Hall of Fame in the category of Meritorious Service.
