Paul Lanham, a Jackson County native, competed in football and baseball during his college years. Later, he had a distinguished career in professional football, serving as Head Coach of the USFL Arizona Wranglers and as an assistant with the Detroit Lions, St. Louis Cardinals, Washington Redskins, Los Angeles Rams, and Cleveland Browns. Lanham coached in the 1979 and 1987 Super Bowls and served as Course Marshall in the 1984 Olympic Games. He was GSC's Montrose Award Winner in 1954. Paul and his wife, Helen, have three children, Tamara, Steve, and Randy, and six grandchildren.
