Name: Bob "Hooks" Hardman, Athlete
Class of: 1951
Bob "Hooks" Hardman, a Glenville native, was given the nickname "Hooks" because of his abilities on the basketball floor. He was a two-time All-Conference player and a member of the 50-Year All-WVIAC Team. Bob was Salutatorian of his Glenville High School graduating class. He began his teaching/coaching career at Smithfield High School and later taught and coached at Dupont High School. The last forty-two years of his career was spent with Dowell Chemical Company and Nowsco, retiring in 1996. Although Hardman's career moved to the private sector, he maintained his desire to help kids, organizing both the youth basketball and baseball leagues in Gilmer County. Hardman and his wife, Peggy, have five children, Debbie '73, Bob '75, Mary Kay '76, Pam and Richard, and ten grandchildren.
