Class of: 1947
Ray Watson, a native of Weston, was an All-Conference football player. Mr. Watson had a very successful career as a coach and administrator. He served as West Virginia Tech's head football coach from 1957 to 1959 where his teams were 16-8-2. Ray also served as an assistant at West Virginia University and was principal at Wirt County High School and a member of the Secondary Schools Athletic Commission Board of Appeals. Watson is a member of the Mid Ohio Valley and the West Virginia Tech Halls of Fame. He died May 18, 2004. Ray is survived by two children and four grandchildren. His widow, Beatrice, died in 2006.
