Ed Donatell, a native of Stow, Ohio competed in football during his college career at Glenville State College. A defensive back for the Pioneers, he was a four year letter winner and co-captain of his 1978 football team. Additionally, he received All WVIAC Honorable Mention in 1978. After receiving his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from GSC, Ed earned a master's degree in Administration from Kent State. He began his NFL coaching career with the New York Jets in 1990 as Defensive Backs Coach. Donatell joined the Broncos coaching staff in the same position in 1995, where he helped the Denver Broncos to back-to-back Super Bowl wins in 1997 and 1998. He later served as the Green Bay Packers Defensive Coordinator for four years. During a three year period from 2001 to 2003, the Packers defense under Donatell lead the entire NFL with a total of 119 takeaways. In 2003, the Packers ranked 11th in scoring defense and 10th in rushing defense. Donatell was Defensive Coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons at the time he was inducted into GSC's Athletic Hall of Fame. Ed, and his wife, Shari, have three children, Brenna, Thomas, and Steven.
